Premises Registration

Livestock Premises Identification

A livestock premises identification number or PIN is simply an account number for our program to keep track of regulatory activities, such as official tag distribution, vaccination and testing activities, and disease investigations, in Virginia. It is required to receive official ID tags from VDACS or to purchase 840-series official ID tags from private vendors. It may also be required by some livestock events in Virginia or in other states (e.g., exhibiting livestock at many state fairs). The Virginia Animal ID Program can provide a PIN for your farm, clinic, event location or facility at no cost.

Information required:

  • Premises owner name(s)
  • Complete street address where animals are located
  • Contact phone number (in case of emergency)
  • Types of livestock or poultry at premises (cattle, sheep, etc.)
  • Type of operation (farm, clinic, exhibition)

This information can be provided via email or phone. If you already have a PIN, but have forgotten it or need to update your contact information, we can take care of this for you in just a few minutes.
