Our laboratory system works daily to diagnose livestock and poultry diseases and consequently aid in the prevention and control of these diseases. With five modern laboratory facilities located throughout the Commonwealth, we are able to offer our clients a wide range of testing services in bacteriology, serology, virology, parasitology, pathology and field diagnostics.
Our laboratory system has the technology available to test samples from veterinarians, livestock producers and poultry growers and pet owners. We perform necropsies, bacteriological cultures, identification and sensitivity testing, hematology, parasitology, and histopathological examination of tissues. Consumers are also protected by the testing of raw milk products, ice cream and water.
To control the spread of disease overseas, we also test animals before they are exported. Keeping in close contact with farmers, veterinarians, and state and federal agencies is vital to maintaining our surveillance and control of infectious and contagious animal diseases.
