Food Safety — It's In The Bag

Do your part to keep food safe when bagging groceries. Here are some important tips to keep in mind:

Raw Meat, Poultry and Seafood

Prevent juices from leaking on other foods Bag separately from any other food products Wrap each item in a separate plastic bag before adding to grocery bag

Hot and Cold Foods

Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold Bag hot foods together; bag frozen and refrigerated foods together Keep hot foods separate from cold items

Here's How to Pack Smart

More tips for bagging groceries safely Place products that could melt/leak in an individual plastic bag before placing in the grocery bag Pack cleaning supplies and non- food items separately from food products Pack heavier items on the bottom; place eggs and other fragile items on top Place food containers with snap-on lids upright in the bag to prevent spillage
