Processed Food Inspection

The Processed Food Inspection program provides inspection and certification on a wide range of frozen, canned, dried or dehydrated fruits, vegetables and related products. The service area covers the entire state and the eastern half of North Carolina.

Processed products may be inspected in the plant as it is processed or official samples may be drawn for later analysis at the Richmond laboratory. This certification is available on a lot basis or through continuous inspection under contract. Products may be certified according to USDA or state grade standards or to military and other contract specifications.

Another service provided is check loading of product for domestic and export shipments. This service provides positive lot identification as well as assures that the containers are in good order and are properly loaded.

A large portion of this program's service is inspection and certification of imported products according to USDA grade standards and import regulations. Inspection of seafood, including shellfish, is another service available.
