GRAB YOUR HAT AND JUMP IN THE CAR – VIRGINIA’S 2014 FOOD FESTIVAL SEASON BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
Contact: Elaine J. Lidholm, 804.786.7686
The weather may be cold and snowy, but the 2014 Virginia Food Festival season has begun. First up this year: the Heart of Virginia (HOVA) Wine Trail Chili Cookoff. It takes place January 18 and features six central Virginia wineries: James River Cellars, Grayhaven Winery, Cooper Vineyards, Weston Vineyards, Lake Anna Winery and Mattaponi Winery.
The Passport Ticket provides a tasting at all six wineries with a souvenir keepsake wineglass. This weekend participants will get to sample chili at each winery, then vote for their favorite. Other Wine Trail events will focus on Mardi Gras, April Fool’s Day, the Summer Solstice and a Caribbean Festival. Call 804.550.7516 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information, or visit their website at hovawinetrail.com/ for more information.
At the Virginia Food Festivals section of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (VDACS) website, you’ll find month-by-month listings of more festivals: vdacs.virginia.gov/news/festival.shtml.
