The 4th Annual Virginia Agroterrorism Conference will take place May 9, 2012, at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, 901 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, VA 24061. The one-day conference is designed to inform people who work in agriculture and law enforcement how state and federal agencies would respond to an incident of terrorism that affected the food supply and all other aspects of agriculture – from veterinary medicine to dairy farmers to food processors. The conference is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Norfolk/Richmond, and Virginia Tech.
This free, one-day conference is designed to inform individuals from the private sector involved in agriculture how VDACS, the Virginia Department of Health and the Federal Government would respond to an Agroterrorism incident within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The target audience includes livestock and poultry producers, veterinarians, livestock market managers, food and dairy processors and retailers, and local and state government officials. Registration priority will be given to this audience. A limited number of seats will be available to law enforcement personnel and other emergency management officials. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Registration for participants is available online. There is no registration fee.
