LIZA FLEESON NAMED PROGRAM MANAGER FOR VDACS OFFICE OF PESTICIDE SERVICES

Photo of Liza Fleeson.The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) has selected Liza Fleeson as the new Program Manager for the Office of Pesticide Services.

In her position as Program Manager, Fleeson directs the statewide pesticide program which includes applicator certification, business licensing, product registration, inspection, complaint investigation, civil penalty assessment and administration of programs for pesticides disposal and pesticide container recycling. She will also serve as Executive Secretary to the Pesticide Control Board.  

Fleeson previously served as Environmental Program Planner, Compliance Manager and Worker Protection and Product Registration Program Coordinator for the Office of Pesticide Services.  She began her new duties April 10, 2008. 

“Liza Fleeson brings a level of skill, talent, knowledge and leadership to this role that will serve all the citizens of Virginia well, and I am delighted to announce her selection,” said Todd P. Haymore, VDACS Commissioner.

Fleeson is a member of the State FIFRA Issues Research and Evaluation Group's Pesticide Operations & Management Working Committee and the President of The Pesticide Stewardship Alliance.  She is a graduate of Florida State University, has a Masters of Public Administration as well as Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Biological Science and Science Education.  In addition to her years at VDACS, she also worked in the area of environmental and public health at the Florida Departments of Health and Corrections.
