LEARNING FROM ITS LEGACY - NEW MAGAZINE FEATURES VIRGINIA’S FARMS, FARMERS AND HISTORY
Contact: Elaine J. Lidholm, 804.786.7686
Did you know agriculture is Virginia’s #1 industry?
Could you name the Commonwealth’s Top 20 commodities or our top export markets?
Did you know that many of America’s Founding Fathers were also our Founding Farmers?
Would you like to visit some of our farms or find a place to pick peaches or pumpkins?
You’ll find these facts, features and much more in a new magazine called VA Agriculture, available in hard copy format from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) or online. The magazine, which was produced at no cost to the state, is free to farmers, consumers, ag organizations, schools, Chambers of Commerce and other organizations or associations. It is a comprehensive look at agriculture in Virginia and is an annual publication.
“I grew up on a Virginia farm and as Commissioner of Agriculture, believe I have a pretty good idea of the state of the industry,” said Matthew J. Lohr, VDACS Commissioner. “But even I am impressed when I leaf through the pages of this magazine and see right before me the breadth and depth of the ag industry in Virginia. If you are involved in agriculture in any way, you need this magazine. If you have a 4th or 8th grader studying Virginia history, you need this magazine. And if you appreciate our safe, wholesome and abundant food supply, well, you need a copy, too.”
If you would like hard copies for your school, group or organization, please e-mail Elaine Lidholm or call her at 804.786.7686.
