The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) and Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) will host an informational meeting on Boxwood Blight on Thursday, November 7, 2013, in Galax, Virginia.
Boxwood Blight is a serious disease that results in defoliation and dieback of boxwood plants. The disease is of particular concern to boxwood growers because it can render infected plants unsalable. The first detection of Boxwood Blight in Virginia occurred in Carroll County in 2011. Since then, the disease has also been found in Chesterfield County.
Boxwood growers and anyone else interested in learning more about this disease are invited to attend this informational meeting. Representatives from VDACS and VCE will present information on the biology and management of the disease, as well as related regulatory actions.
