Agricultural Organizations — THE SPECIALTY FOOD ADVISORY COMMITTEE
In 2007, Todd P. Haymore, Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), created the Specialty Food Advisory Committee (SFAC) and appointed 11 members, knowledgeable about specialty food issues in Virginia, who represent retailers, specialty food producers, the Food Science Department at Virginia Tech, and the supplier side of the industry.
The purpose of the group is to work with and advise VDACS on the marketing and promotion of Virginia’s specialty food industry. The Committee will also plan an annual educational conference with the support of the Virginia Food and Beverage Association.
In order to serve the needs of the specialty food industry, the Committee is inviting comments and questions from industry members regarding their issues, challenges they are facing and areas of concern particular in the area of marketing their products.
