To maintain your certificate, you must:
Renew every two years. VDACS will send you a renewal form that you must return with the $70 renewal fee for commercial and $30 for registered technicians by June 30 to avoid paying a late fee. No late renewals are accepted after August 29. State, federal and local government employees are fee-exempt and their certificates are automatically renewed if they meet the requirements below. Commercial applicator and registered technician certificates expire every two years on June 30 unless they are renewed.
Recertify every two years. You may renew your certification by attending a fully-approved category-specific recertification session every two years. Information on approved programs may be obtained from local Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) offices or VDACS Office of Pesticide Services.
Reciprocal recertification may be granted to out-of-state applicators if they:
- maintain certification in their home state;
- provide proof of current certification to the Office of Pesticide Services;
- are currently certified in a state that grants reciprocal recertification to Virginia Applicators.
