Virginia Licensed Pesticide Businesses (PDF format)
A Pesticide Business License is required for any person or business operating in Virginia, which, in exchange for compensation, sells, stores, distributes, mixes, applies, or recommends for use, pesticides. A separate Pesticide Business License is required for each business location. This license is separate from and in addition to any other commercial business license.

How to apply for a Pesticide Business License
1. Complete an Application for Virginia Pesticide Business License.
2. Furnish a Certificate of Insurance showing a minimum of $100,000 for property damage, $100,000 for personal injury to or death of one person, and $300,000 per occurrence.
3. Mail the application form, certificate of insurance, and a check or money order in the amount of $50.00, payable to the Treasurer of Virginia to: Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services P. O. Box 526 Richmond, Virginia 23218
4. The applicant for a Pesticide Business License or his employee must also pass a written examination prior to being issued a business license. However, if the applicant or his employee is certified as a commercial applicator, the exam requirement is waived.
