Plant Pest Survey and Detection
Personnel in OPIS are constantly working to collect and manage data on plant pests of concern to Virginia. The majority of surveys being conducted target pests not known to occur in Virginia and include insects, weeds, and plant diseases. Much of the work is carried out in cooperation with the USDA Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service and Virginia Cooperative Extension Services. The Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey (CAPS) Program provides national and regional coordination and funding.
Below is a listing of some of the current pest programs in Virginia with links for more information.
