Coyote Control

Coyote depredations were recognized as a potentially serious threat to Virginia's livestock industries in the early 1980's. The Virginia Cooperative Coyote Damage Control Program was created in 1990 by a Cooperative Service Agreement between the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) and the United States Department of Agriculture — Animal Plant Health Inspection Services — Wildlife Services (WS). The Virginia Sheep Industry Board also contributes financial support to the coyote program. For more information on assistance in identifying, controlling, and abating coyote damage to livestock, contact Wildlife Services.
