Directions: Take Route 460 1 mile west of Bedford. Turn right on Route 680 and go north for 5.5 miles. Follow the wine signs. From the Peaks of Otter and Blue Ridge Parkway, take Route 43 south for 3.5 miles, turn right on Route 682 for 3 miles, turn right on Route 680 for 1 mile. Follow the wine signs.
Hours: 12 Noon-5 p.m., daily, April-December; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., daily, August-October; 12 Noon-5 p.m., weekends, January-March.
Special Comments: A drive to our farm is spectacular any time but especially in the fall when the leaves start turning. You can taste our apples, peaches, nectarines, cider, and other home grown and homemade products. See our15’ Johnny Appleseed statue. Restrooms. Picnic pavilio n available. Tour buses welcome anytime - appointments preferred. Horse and Hound wine festival second Saturday in July. Call for special educational tours and school field trip information. On-farm winery featuring “Fruit of the Farm” wines. On-farm vacation house rental available year round. We are a Virginia Green attraction.
Products: Pick-your-own or fresh-picked apples, peaches, nectarines and plums. More than 170 different varieties of apples including Red and Golden Delicious, Johnny Grimes, Jonathan, Johnny Dels, Grimes Golden, McIntosh, Granny Smith, Rome, Black Twig, Arkansas Black, Stayman, Winesap, Gala, plus many more antique apples. Homemade cider, apple butter, syrup, apple hot sauces, jellies, jams, molasses, honey, pumpkins, hot peppers and other produce.

Special Comments: The BarnHouse Garden grows heirloom produce using sustainable growth practices.
Products: Five types of heirloom melons. The herb garden has approximately 30 different herbs, including midewiwan sacred tobacco. Everything is vine-ripe and picked daily.

Directions: Located off Route 122 midway between Route 220 at Rocky Mount and Route 460 at Bedford. When near Moneta on 122, look for the Virginia grape cluster signs.
Hours: 11 a.m.-5 p.m., daily, June-August; Thursday-Monday, April-November; Saturdays in March and December.
Special Comments: Roanoke natives Roger and Judy Furrow started in 1984 with 250 vines on the banks of Smith Mountain Lake. By 1992, they purchased a nearby farm for commercial grape production. In 2001, commercial wine production began. The Furrows, their daughter and her family continue the vineyard dream. Visitors are encouraged to visit the vineyard and winery where there is a tasting room, gift shop, picnic area and nature trail. In addition to these activities, the vineyard holds many events throughout the year. Details can be found on their Web site.

Directions: From Bedford, take Route 122 north to Sedalia. Turn right on Charlemont Road and go 1.7 miles. Driveway on left to “Mountain Run Meats.” From Lynchburg, take 501 north through Big Island to Route 122 south toward Bedford. Turn left on Route 122 south and 6 to 7 miles, turn left on Charlemont Road at Sedalia Country Store. Farm is 1.7 miles on the left.

By studying the nearly-forgotten ways of agriculture and ecological food production practiced by our pre-WWII ancestors, we have learned to trust in and work with nature.
