Description:  This centuries old public market offers fresh, locally-grown produce, plants, flowers, baked goods, eggs, meats, natural body products, crafts, art and jewelry.  Come down to shop in the ambience of Richmond’s picturesque open-air market, located in the heart of historic Shockoe Bottom.  PLENTY OF CONVENIENT FREE PARKING.  Growers and prepared food vendors given special priority, assistance and accommodation.  New vendors always welcome.
Directions:  From I-95 south, take exit 74B, left on Main Street at second light.  Go 2 blocks to 17th Street.  Market is on the left.  From I-95 north, take exit 74C toward Broad Street/U.S. 250.  Merge onto North 17th Street.  Cross Broad Street and turn right onto E. Grace Street.  Turn left onto Ambler Street.  Turn left onto E. Franklin Street.  Market is on the right.  From Downtown Expressway (195) traveling east, Expressway ends, keep left and merge onto I-95 north.  Stay to the right and take the first exit, 74C toward Broad Street.  Merge onto North 17th Street, cross Broad Street and turn right onto E. Grace Street.  Turn left on Ambler Street, then left on E. Franklin Street.  Market is on the right.  From I-64 traveling east, take I-95 south to exit 74B (Franklin Street).  Turn left onto Main Street at second light.  Turn left onto North 17th Street. 
Hours:  3-7 p.m., Wednesdays; 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursdays; 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturdays, April 22-December 5; 4-8 p.m., Fridays, May 29-September 4.
Activities: Shamrock the Block, March 14; Opening Day, April 22; Grand Opening Kick-Off, April 25; Red, White & Brew Market begins (Fridays only May 29-September 4); Animalia, June 6;  Shockoe Tomato, July 11; Shockoe Chef Showdown, August 1; Shockoe on the Halfshell, September 19; Shocktoberfest, October 17; Brunswick Stew Festival, November 7; Holiday Market, December 4.  All events free to the public, free parking.
