Directions: Take Route 221 to Bent Mountain.  Turn east on Route 612 (Slings Gap Road) next to Bent Mountain Fire Station.  Go 1/2 mile; turn right onto Greenhouse Road.  Second driveway on right.  Glass greenhouses; pull to metal building.
Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday, year-round.
Special Comments: Not just organic and local, but verified higher in nutrition than any conventionally-grown varieties.  We are dedicated to growing nutritious fruits and vegetables that you can count on for better health.  Field and greenhouse grown.  Multiple harvest festivals during season.  Check with us for specific times and dates.
Products: Organic fruits and vegetables - Greenhouse produce includes tomatoes, red peppers, onions (green and bulb), Italian eggplant, herbs, leafy greens (check for availability).  Field produce includes blueberries, sweet potatoes, potatoes, squash (winter and summer), sweet corn, strawberries, Asian melons, broccoli, sweet cabbage (check availability).

Directions: We are an urban agricultural operation with various growing sites in the city of Roanoke. 
Hours: By appointment, February-October.
Special Comments: We have a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and sell to local restaurants and stores.  We are passionate about building the infrastructure and capacity for local food production.  We offer teaching and mentoring services to home and aspiring professional growers.  We grow according to organic standards, but we are not certified organic.  We are dedicated to stewarding our precious natural and human resources.  Our work builds human health, environmental health and sustainable economic development.  We are grateful to serve our community and look forward to meeting you.

Description:  Discover What’s Up Downtown in Roanoke’s Historic City Market--the country’s oldest continuously-operating open-air farmers’ market.  Enjoy history, tradition, friendly faces and timeless beauty as you browse the year-round, open-air market, 7 days a week from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  The 125-year old farmers’ market spans several blocks of the central downtown district.  On the market’s tables you’ll find a variety of fresh home-grown vegetables, fruits, meats eggs, herbs, flowers and plants complimented by beautiful hand-made artisan crafts—all surrounded by eclectic shops, fabulous dining options, museums and art galleries.  Don’t miss live music every Saturday and Sunday, April through September, the Harvest Festival annually in October, and holiday greenery—from boxwood wreaths to mistletoe—in November and December.  
Directions:  From Interstate 81, take exit 143 to I-581.  Take exit 5 into Downtown (Williamson Road).  Proceed to Campbell Avenue and turn right.  Market is one block on the left.  From the South, take 220 North to Exit 6 (Elm Avenue).  Turn left on Elm.  Take a right onto Williamson Road and go approximately 3 blocks to Campbell Avenue.  Turn left, market is one block on the right.
Hours:  Open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., daily (except Christmas and New Year’s Day).
Activities:  Live music Saturdays and Sundays, April-September.  Harvest Festival in October.  Holiday greenery and activities November-December.

Directions:  One mile west of Route 419 and Oak Grove School.
Hours:  8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, year-round.  Closed Sunday.
Special Comments:  Family farm since 1875.  Our fruits and vegetables are grown on premises.  Old-fashioned homemade hard candy (in season).  Fruit and gift baskets are a specialty.
Products:  Select-your-own apples, peaches, nectarines, vegetables, apple butter, peach butter, mountain honey, hard candy, Amish country cheese.

VINTON FARMERS’ MARKET

Description: Established in 1988, the market offers fresh produce, baked goods, plants and handmade arts and crafts.  The market features a paved parking area with a large overhead permanent canopy for the vendors.  An entertainment stage is also on site.
Directions: Minutes from Roanoke.  From I-581, take exit 4-E (Route 460 east/Orange Avenue).  At the fifth stoplight, turn right on Gus W. Nicks Boulevard.  Go approximately one mile, turn right on Pollard Street, then right on Lee Avenue.
Hours: Daylight hours, Monday-Saturday; 12 Noon-6 p.m., Sunday, April-November.
Activities: Art Market - May 9, July 11 and September 12, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., arts, crafts, music.  Song and Salad - June 13, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., local songwriter performers and salad competition.  Salsa Saturday - July 8, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., salsa recipe competition and salsa dancing.  Monthly bluegrass music concerts and more.
