Virginia Farmers' Market Photo Contest Winners
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Virginia Farmers' Market Photo Contest. Contestants were encouraged to snap a photo at one of Virginia's nearly 200 farmers' market to showcase the beauty and abundance of Virginia agricultural products for a chance to win a Virginia Grown/Virginia's Finest prize package. There were four categories in all, including one that awarded a prize to the market with the most entries. Four farmers’ markets tied for the most entries including: Alexandria Farmers’ Market, Goochland Farmers’ Market, Mineral Farmers’ Market and Uptown Martinsville Farmers’ Market.
Child Entry Winner: Sammy Thompson, Age 10 - "Flowers" photo taken at the Oakton Farmers' Market
Youth Entry Winner: Ms. Lauren Shaffer of Williamsburg - "Tomatoes" photo taken at the Williamsburg Farmers' Market
Adult Entry Winner: Mr. Eric Brown of Arlington - "Berries" photo taken at the Alexandria Farmers' Market
