Contact: Elaine Lidholm, 804.786.7686
On October 11, Dan Brann of Brann & Kings Farms in Riner, Va. and Ken Gustafson of Ashland Berry Farm in Ashland, Va. delivered more than 1,200 pounds of pumpkins to Governor Terry McAuliffe and First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe. The farmers were representing the Virginia Pumpkin Growers Association. The pumpkins and gourds, along with the winning pumpkin from the State Fair of Virginia, will grace the Executive Mansion throughout the fall.
During the presentation, Gov. McAuliffe declared the month of October as Virginia Pumpkin Month and noted that the Commonwealth has approximately 3,000 acres of wholesale pumpkins valued at more than $6 million.
