Four Virginia distilleries will exhibit at The Whisky Show, September 28-29, at Old Billingsgate in London. The United Kingdom is the largest export destination for U.S. whisky, accounting for more than 11 percent of the total export market share in 2018.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (VDACS) Office of International Marketing and its European Trade representative are supporting the distilleries in their participation in this international event. The following four distilleries will exhibit at The Whisky Show and offer product samples in the “Virginia is for Spirits Lovers” themed booth.
Virginia is home to 70 licensed distilleries. A Virginia Distillers Association economic analysis indicated that the state’s distilleries supported 1,477 full-time equivalent jobs and contributed nearly $17.5 million in state and local taxes in 2017. “Distilleries are a growing part of Virginia’s agricultural economy, and we’re excited to support them in their efforts to pursue international markets,” said VDACS Director of Marketing and Development Stephanie Agee. “The Whisky Show is a major trade event and excellent opportunity for these distilleries to connect with distribution partners, trade buyers and industry influencers in the U.K.”
The Whisky Show is the U.K.’s most popular whisky festival, bringing together distillers and whisky lovers from around the world. For more information on The Whisky Show 2019, visit their website and follow the show’s social media hashtag #thewhiskyshow.
